A high hanging valley with clear running streams,
Where Jessie and Edmund shared their dreams,
And their dreams grew strong and one dream was clear,
A fine, wild place that would always be here.
A wild old place safe and secure,
Where air is fresh and water is pure
And when you return, wherever you’ve been…
This wild old place will welcome you in.

These woods are not yours, they belong to the trees,
They belong to the creatures that float on the breeze,
That lie in the pools that prowl in the night
And hide in the shadows just out of sight.
A chorus of frogs, barred owl calls,
Stars dance above and coyote howls,
With every dark night and each bright morn …
This wild old place gets newly reborn.

So many children have learned in these hills,
How fresh melting snow gathers and spills,
How wren makes a nest, where doe hides a faun,
How each fallen stem carries life on.
On well-worn paths of memories,
The child inside returns and sees
This wild old place of water and trees…
And wherever they wander, wherever they’ve been…
This wild old place will be welcome them in.
